Artist Nirmal Pathare talks about her paintings
Painting emotions, abstracts and exploration of light through her art
Nirmal has evolved through many stages. She used to work on charcoal sketches and portraits earlier, then took to oil paintings, initially worked on wild animals and birds. Now she is more into abstract paintings.
Initially, S L Haldankar and Ilaiyaraaja had a strong influence on her. Later, she had opportunities to visit various museums in Europe where she was highly influenced by Rembrandt and Leonardo DaVinci too. She is also an admirer of paintings by V S Gaitonde.
She enjoyed wild life paintings earlier. Currently, she is keen on painting abstracts based on Indian culture and Vedic themes.
She would also like to take further her recent theme of paintings based on असतो मा सद्गमय। तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय। मृत्योर्मामृतं गमय ॥ॐ शान्ति शान्ति शान्तिः ॥
