Art India Foundation organised an outdoor sketching workshop in South Mumbai on Sunday 7th June 2015. Participants of all age groups participated with great enthusiasm. It was amazing to see how participants who had never done anything before could achieve in just few hours. The workshop was conducted by Mumbai based artist Chitra Vaidya. The workshop began with an introduction by Milind Sathe about Art India Foundation and Indiaart and the projects and initiatives undertaken in the past especially for children. Chitra Vaidya talked about sketching, the tools for sketching and the approach to sketching. She demonstrated the techniques especially how to do rapid sketching.

The participants were asked to list the objects in the vicinity which they would like to sketch and were asked to start. They were keen and eager and it was surprising to see the speed at which they went about creating sketches of their favourite subjects. An interesting sideshow to the workshop was the appearance of a cat and her little one. Few children were fascinated by the presence of the cat and decided to do a sketch of the cat. Then suddenly we were startled to find the cat appearing with a lizard securely held in her jaws with the kitten following her eagerly for a nice Sunday breakfast.
